I recently started Becoming Mae West. I'm excited about how the author chose to focus on her early years because those are the ones I'm most interested in learning about. So far, I was surprised to learn that young Mae was noted for her frenetic energy before she refined her act, and how the author thinks she learned to slow down her delivery when practicing readbacks of her lines with her mother.
